Odds and Ends for Brass Soloist (2019) ~ 4 Minutes
Written as a short suite of incidental music, Odds and Ends has three movements. The piece opens with a technical fanfare, a lusciously lyrical pastorale, and finishes with a quick-paced Jig. Each movement has its own character, allowing the soloist to showcase many different sides of their musicality. The first movement uses multiple tonguing and a wide range to create a sense of earned Grandeur. The pastorale is a break from the technical fireworks and invokes idyllic repose. The energetic jig will get toes tappin' as the soloist races toward the end.
